Najy and Neso could be from Africa, Asia, or South America, but they live in an imaginary village created by illustrator Cheyenne Olivier, who drew freely from economics infographics in designing her visual world. Despite their poverty, Najy and Neso have the same adventures as children the world over, with their friends, family, and fellow villagers. In this picture book, readers will find out about the problems they face in their daily lives, the solutions they devise, their little mistakes and big dreams. The goal of this series is to depict poverty in different light, free of the prejudice, myth, and caricature with which the poor are too often depicted. Far from offering miracle cures, these books invite us to think alternatively and come together to discuss a topic that concerns us all.
