MEDICINE: A GRAPHIC HISTORY

47
Medicine: A Graphic History is a non-fiction graphic novel published in 2018 by Les Arènes BD. Through its combination of knowledge and humor, the work traces the history of medicine over centuries and across continents. English (world), Spanish, Czech, Chinese, Russian, Polish, Korean and Portuguese (Brazil) rights have been sold.

From Chinese to Persian medicine to Indian medical practices, Medicine: A Graphic History is an exciting journey around the world; a novel full of twists and turns, where power, genius, and chance mix with science.

Narrated by Jean-Noël Fabiani, Chief Surgeon at the Georges Pompidou Hospital (Paris) and medical historian and illustrated by the graphic novel artist Philippe Bercovici, Medicine: A Graphic History is also a story about people, addiction, and love. In 2020, Les Arènes BD published an expanded edition of the graphic novel which included the history of midwives, nurses and famous female doctors.

With the goal of making science accessible in a lively and fun way, this work is not only interesting for traditional comic publishers, but also for general non-fiction publishers.
