The place of LGBT+ individuals has evolved considerably in some societies. But what about the legal and social recognition of LGBT+ parenthood? Even when legally recognized, some families continue to face obstacles because they are outside of the norm. Stigma is particularly acute for trans parents. Parents without legal rights can lose daily involvement as a parent after a separation, while others have no legal ties to their children at all… In these cases, parents are vulnerable in the face of the institutions that govern their lives.
