1965. Dani leaves Cambodia for East Germany behind her father’s back. She dreams of becoming a pianist and has received a scholarship to study at a prestigious music school in Leipzig. She tries to adapt to this new life, working relentlessly toward her degree, but then she discovers she’s pregnant. What should she do? Her fiancé is pursuing his career as a musician on the other side of the Iron Curtain, in the United States, but her life, her aspirations... and her piano are in the GDR.
