In Iran, under Islamic law, a father is said to own his children’s blood – so he cannot be prosecuted if he harms them. This principle shapes a society in which men hold all the power, and with complete impunity. Mansoureh Kamari recalls her childhood and adolescence, describing women’s fear and helplessness under this male-dominated regime: the many prohibitions, forced marriages from the age of 9, executions at 15... But Mansoureh also recounts her liberation and rebirth after fleeing Iran.
