Maybe the story of a life can only be told once other things have been told. And maybe we've revealed more of ourselves in this way than by recounting a lifetime's escapades. Composing a self-portrait today might well mean abandoning the "I" and trying to feel out what remains once we've left it behind. That's the way to live. By assuming a more liquid sense of character, it becomes possible to constantly reinvent ourselves, always believing in the miracle that will happen the next day.
