The Far Right is winning elections more and more often. It nearly succeeded in taking control of in France in July 2024. This book provides some keys to understanding the destructurating of historically stable political reference points (the Right-Left divide); the disappearance of shared, communally agreed-upon memory (the history of the Far Right’s accomplishments once in power); logics internal to the political field and journalistic logics that enable it to pass for more moderate than it actually is, almost pacifying the citizenry... In six short chapters, this book dissects the logic that presided over the Far Right's ascent, starting with the general mental fog that contributed to its strange victory, and in so doing, proposes an original survey of the evolution of our contemporary political systems.
