In the heart of the Pyrenees, a woman is held captive by the one she calls the "Madman."

In a remote sheepfold in the Pyrenees, Marion is forced by a man she calls "Madman" to play mother or face severe punishment. She carves a line under the table for every day she is held captive: her only way of keeping in touch with reality. That, and the hope of seeing her real son, Valentin, again...
Not far away, the body of an unknown young man is found in a narrow valley known as Comba Retirat. His skull has been smashed in. The grisly scene soon leads the gendarmes to reopen an unsolved case from twenty-six years ago: that of a newborn baby found in the same spot, with the same mortal wound.
