A child gets involved in dangerous games during the Occupation.

1939: Lucile, a mischievous only child, lives a happy life with her parents in a small village in southeastern France. Her whole world comes tumbling down when her parents ban their friendly Jewish tenants for no understandable reason and announce they are expecting a child. From that moment on, Lucile looks upon the coming child as "the monster."
