When Jo-Ann Brown, the writer of a show beloved throughout the land, mysteriously disappears, all England is in a tizzy. Fleeing her total asshole of an ex and the gossip rags, bankrupt and cheated on, Brown takes refuge in a cottage inherited from her great-aunt Gladys. The McPherson sisters, her septuagenarian neighbors, soon send her the only person they think can help her: the village priest. But did Jo-Ann really need her teenage nephew to show up after being kicked out of boarding school? Or, for that matter, her fanciful assistant? And when old ladies start dying one after another, the holidays soon turn into a nightmare.
