René Magritte and his wife Georgette are in Montmartre for a gallery show where he is to meet author Boris Vian.
While out on a solitary stroll, he spots a pretty young woman on a bistro terrace. She's wearing a curious hat with a chick in a nest of feathers. He hits it off with her and gives in to his desire to photograph her. She ends up surreptitiously fleeing, leaving her hat behind. Back at the hotel, Magritte hides it under the wardrobe, but when Georgette finds it, she stomps on it out of jealousy. A note tumbles out with the words: "Save me!"
