In his home village for a gloomy birthday, young detective Hayato Ishida is forced back to Tokyo when a huge fire destroys Shinjuku, the world's biggest business district. While the city looks on in shock, Hayato, a compulsive loner with an IQ far above average, must team up with Noémie Legrand, a friendly and empathetic Franco-Japanese woman. Meanwhile, some students at the art university whose livelihoods have gone up in smoke hear about an online forum that could solve their problem: the Sheepfold.
