Alexandre, a young French intelligence officer gets off to a rocky start when stationed in Beirut. Denigrated by a boss who never asked for him, he struggles vainly to fulfill the objectives set for him. His salvation comes when Hussein, a member of the Syrian intelligence services, wants to defect and offer his services to France. Hussein is what they call a "walk-in" in intelligence circles, a real godsend. But how can the French be the Syrians aren't trying to trick them? While his sources seem to convince the French, Hussein himself remains elusive, demanding, calculating, and sometimes irascible. The confrontation between him and Alexandre turns into a power struggle, with both men risking their lives.
