Erwan Le Noan explores the deep-rooted reasons for our obsession with egalitarianism that undermines modern society and is at the root of so many impasses. By confusing equality with uniformity, the toxic quest for equality has the effect of multiplying taxes and regulating our behaviour. By equating any difference in situation with discrimination, this absurd quest prevents us from proposing policies adapted to specific challenges. Worse still, it devalues merit and prevents mobility. In fact, the fight for equality leads to injustice, frustration, and is a threat to democratic equilibrium.
