Paris, 1967: in an attempt to reach new audiences, Radio RTL taps Menie, a middle-class housewife, to "get female listeners talking." In just a few weeks, the program is flooded with calls from women all over France wishing to confide in the open and approachable host. Soon, millions of them are passionate fans of the program. Among these are Mireille and her sister Suzanne, who discover that they, too, can be in control of their destiny.
Fifty years later, Esther, a documentary filmmaker struggling to put her life ack together, dives back into those not-so distant years when the fate of all Frenchwomen seemed so different from our own.
