In this book, informed by international comparisons, historical studies, and field studies carried out over recent decades, Pauline Grosjean provides the keys to better understand both the progress women have made in the 20th century, which resulted in greater equality, as well as the reasons this progress has stalled. She introduces her original concept of "patriarcapitalism," or the way in which culture and gender are made into obstacles blocking women’s access to equality in the economic sphere. Surveying the globe for what has and hasn't worked in reducing inequality, she concludes with innovative propositions to put an end to this situation.
