At a construction site, Cyril finda a suitcase abandoned almost five years ago. At loose ends in his own life, he decides to hop on his motorcycle and go all the way to Normandy to deliver the suitcase himself to its owner, a certain Gabrielle. She turns out not to be the old lady he was picturing, but a young proofreader whose grandmother, unbeknownst to her, left her a poignant record of her life: milliner's tools and a hope diary. A moving conversation ensues between a tender grandmother telling of her life in Cotentin and a young woman who sets out on "the road to her dreams" to understand and rejoin her.
