A feminist heroine before her time.

Italy, summer 1922. A strange bond develops between Mr. Leone, who came back from the Great War crippled but also a passionate fan of auto racing, and his housemaid Zita, a country girl fascinated with cars. Leone decides to teach her to drive, sending her out on the roads of Lombardy to compete for prizes. With every race, Zita come increasingly to stand against the modern machine's fantasies of power and the looming specter of fascism, assserting her growing talent in the face of a sadly blinkered world and adopting a different way of being: the utter abandon of perfect harmony with her speedster.
