In the context of the economic globalization and development of overpowered transnational groups, the market has become king, keeping nations from doing their social duty. Now the threat to the environment is unavoidable and the challenge faced by democracies immense. Their inability to confront it could prove conducive to the rise of authoritarian regimes. There's a steep hill left to climb to make us eco-democracies and move from modernity's mechanistic paradigm to the unity of all living things.
