A picture book that plays with shadows and tells the story of a boy and his cat: how close they were, and how they slowly grew apart.

This cat indeed has a ferocious name: Beelzebub! Yet at the beginning, he is an angel, a guardian angel watching over a child, sharing bedtime stories and dreams. Until one day the child and the cat become free. The child grows up and watches the cat change from a cuddly creature into a wild one: the parallel journeys of two beings searching for their true selves. Marine Rivoal's stencil illustrations are remarkably gentle and delicate. As the pages go by, Jean-Baptiste Labrune's text disappears, leaving space for the reader's own interpretation and conception of freedom.
