Young Jeanne grows worried every night at dinner. She waits meekly, not making a sound. And her worst fears are always realized: arguments, fighting, anger, screams.
Jeanne is afraid. Sometimes she runs away to her grandmother's, or flees into the meadows on her blue bike. But tonight, it's raining and dark out. So she just shuts her eyes, clamps her hands over her ears, and escapes into her mind: far, far away from here, to a place where life is and will always be beautiful.
