An incredible first novel where the mud of rutted paths is transformed into poetry.

A woman walks alone from border to border, Boulogne-sur-Mer to Belgium, the north of France to the Jura Mountains, the Ardennes to Swizterland, and then straight west, to land's end, beyond Santiago de Compostela. She plunges deep into the landscape and blends into it, becoming rain and fog, mud and topsoil Nights spent in forests dictate her days. Walking fills her solitude with the company of animals, conversations overheard in cafés, and encounters along the way. Her steps turn into words, stirring memories, working through absence and separations, wearing out her body in a fierce attempt to reinvent her life.
