A thought-provoking novel about the limits of power, individual freedom, fatphobia, and the cult of thinness.

Jacob lives in England, the child of a happy family: his parents and three younger sisters. But one day, his youngest sister comes home terrified from a doctor's visit. "How can this little girl be so skinny and have growth issues when she belongs to such an ample, even obese family? Is she being abused?"
From this mere suspicion, a tragedy is born. The family must go on a strict diet. Then they will be locked in a house where the fridge only unlocks at certain times, where exercise is mandatory and eating happens under surveillance. And as if all that weren't enough, children are then taken from their families.
