Famine rules the land. Desperately hungry, Jackrabbit Leuk spots a village and knocks on the first door he sees. It's the home of greedy, gluttonous Bouki the Hyena! But Leuk manages to trick Bouki into letting him borrow a stockpot to make some sweet, succulent stone soup. One by one, an elephant, a leopard, and finally all the villagers join them, each adding their own ingredient to the soup whose secret Leuk alone knows.
Known from Europe to Asia, this famous folktale served up African-style--fighting prejudice and promoting sharing and solidarity--will leave readers hungry for more.
