Western democracies are experiencing a wave of revolutionary violence. Armed Far-Leftist groups are becoming involved in social protest as a political tool, and so are women. A climate like that of 1970s, sites of resistance, and the fight for freedom are conducive to renegotiating gender roles. Today's women are also at the heart of a national struggle to liberate certain Turkish and Kurdish Leftist organizations, just as they once were in Latin America and South Asia.
