Through various marriages and friendships, the inner circle of the Rouart family was composed of many of the greatest artists of their time, including Degas, Manet, Berthe Morisot, Mallarmé, Renoir, Gide, Chausson, Debussy, Paul Valéry and Maurice Denis, to name but a few. But the Rouarts themselves also demonstrated a significant array of talent: Henri, Ernest, Julie and Augustine in painting, and Eugene, Louis and Jean-Marie in literature. Henri brings together a fabulous collection of paintings, while Alexis and Paul work with the musicians of the thriving French art scene of the early 20th century.
