This polyphonic narrative about a dark decade in Algerian history takes as its starting point the "Plan Obus," Le Corbusier's fantasized urban planning project from 1931 in Algiers. Sonia Chiambretto deploys a procession of voices, forgotten memories, archival material, family narratives, teenagers longing for freedom and caught up in the wars for independence. The architectural elements that shine a light on it and lend it depth come to seem organic, as if it were drawing breath.
