An American road trip made memorable by Claudine Desmarteau's verve and caustic humour .

Frederic is 20 when he flies to Montreal to be reunited with the girl he fell for a few months ago. But he misread the signs, and no sooner does he set foot on Canadian soil than she breaks up with him. Angry and thrown for a loop, Fred has a month to kill on the American continent, with only a few dollars and no cell phone. (It’s the 1980s!) But why not, he's up for a challenge! And so, a road trip begins, taking him from youth hostels to Burger Kings, down the asphalt of Manhattan, Boston, Quebec and all the way to Gaspesie National Park. Buses, hitchhiking, boats… whatever gets him to the next place! Bit by bit, Fred lets his guard down and shows the world a glimpse of his wounds.
