AID FOR PUBLISHING COMPANIES FOR THE TRANSLATION OF FRENCH WORKS INTO FOREIGN LANGUAGES

=> Facilitate the translation of French books around the world


The aim of the grant is to promote an offer of quality translations of works written in French or one of the languages of France, representative of literary and scientific diversity, to a global readership. The funds are to support publishers taking economic risks to publish quality, diversified works that are accessible to as large a readership as possible. The works in question may be published in print and/or digital format. 
The grant application is made by the publisher of the original French work which has sold the rights to a foreign colleague. 

  • Amount of aid: 40% or 60% of eligible translation costs; the aid amount is calculated from a cost base capped between €834 and €38,000.

The aim is to support publishers taking economic risks to publish quality, diversified editions that are accessible to as large a readership as possible. Particular attention will be paid to quality works that reach a wider audience, in both fiction and non-fiction, as well as those from rarely translated languages.
The works in question may be published in print and/or digital format. 

  • Amount of aid: 40% or 60% of eligible translation costs; the aid amount is calculated from a cost base capped between €834 and €38,000.  


AID TO FRANCOPHONE PUBLISHING COMPANIES ABROAD FOR CESSION AND CO-PRODUCTION PROJECTS

=> Facilitate the presence of literary works in French in Francophone territories around the world


The aim of the grant to publishers for the translation of works into French language is to offer the French public works from all over the world, representative of literary and scientific diversity, in high-quality translation. The purpose is to support publishers taking economic risks as part of a qualitative and diversified editorial production. Particular attention will be paid to quality works that reach a wider audience, in both fiction and non-fiction.

  • Amount of support: from €1,000 to €15,000.


INSTITUT FRANÇAIS AID

AID AVAILABLE FROM THE LOCAL INSTITUTS FRANÇAIS AND THE CULTURAL SERVICES OF FRENCH EMBASSIES AROUND THE WORLD

The French cultural network abroad consists of more than 150 branches around the world. 
Some of the local French Institutes and Embassy Cultural Services offer financial assistance programs for publishers (PAP): these programs are aimed at local publishers committed to the publishing of local versions of fiction and non-fiction works by Francophone authors. FINANCIAL AID FOR RIGHTS ACQUISITIONS

The Institut Français is a public industrial and commercial institution -an agency of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. Its mission is to promote French culture abroad, including books. The French Institute of Paris assists foreign publishers wishing to include works by French-speaking authors in their catalogues through partial or full financial aid to help cover the advance for rights transactions between French and foreign publishers. 

There are two committee meetings yearly: The first is in February and the second in September.
